THE GAME / IN DEVELOPMENT
A single-player, party-based fantasy RPG where an ancient power awakens beneath the sea and the past refuses to stay buried.
DISCOVER THE GAMETHE EXPERIENCE
Dark Serenity is a single-player, party-based fantasy RPG inspired by the spirit of classic console adventures.
An ancient power awakens beneath the sea. As monstrous creatures and hidden cults spread across the kingdoms, a journey into forgotten history reveals that the greatest threats may be consequences of the past.
Explore kingdoms, wilderness, and ancient ruins. Assemble a party, develop characters through branching class paths, and face tactical, turn-based battles where every decision matters.
Beneath the gathering darkness lies a world of beauty, friendship, and hope. But as the truth emerges, even serenity may become something to fear.
In development: this page describes the current design vision, not a list of completed features.
EXPLORATION / PLANNED
Journey through settlements, wilderness, and forgotten places where danger and discovery await.
Speak with the people who inhabit the kingdoms. Search for hidden treasures, uncover secrets, and venture into dungeons where every encounter brings new challenges.
The world is more than a battlefield. Its towns, friendships, and moments of quiet beauty give you something worth fighting for.
YOUR PARTY / PLANNED
Lead an active party of three adventurers, each bringing a distinct role and abilities into battle.
Build a balanced team, develop individual strengths, and adapt your approach as new challenges emerge. Your protagonist's starting class is your first major gameplay choice, but it is far from the last.
THE CLASS SYSTEM / PLANNED
Four starting classes. Two evolution paths each. One permanent choice that defines your future. Begin as a Fighter, Healer, Apprentice, or Rogue. At level 10, a class-focused trial can unlock one of two permanent evolution branches. At level 25, another trial can unlock the final class predetermined by your branch. Delaying a trial carries no experience or progression penalty.

THE TEST SLICE / ENEMIES
Meet three enemies featured in Dark Serenity's test slice. These character concepts offer a first glimpse of the horrors awaiting your party.

A towering figure encased in corroded armor, bearing a crushing mace and the marks of the deep.

A twisted, emaciated creature draped in ragged bindings, its grasping claws reaching from the dark.

A hooded figure wielding a skull-adorned staff, with an eerie green radiance gathering around its hand.

EVOLUTION / PLANNED
Reaching an evolution level opens an opportunity, not an automatic transformation. Seek the appropriate trainer or tradition and undertake a class-focused trial alongside your party. Your chosen branch cannot be reversed, but you can postpone a trial and continue leveling without losing experience or suffering a stat penalty.
Choose Fighter, Healer, Apprentice, or Rogue. Start with three equipped ability slots and a maximum of five AP.
Choose one of two permanent branches, complete its trial, gain a fourth equipped ability slot, and increase maximum AP to ten.
Complete your final-class trial, gain a fifth equipped ability slot, and increase maximum AP to fifteen.
Learn abilities from trainers, retain those acquired along your chosen path, and tailor your equipped loadout to the challenges ahead.
TACTICAL COMBAT / PLANNED
Dark Serenity's round-based battles reward preparation, timing, and teamwork. Speed determines the normal order of combat. When a character's turn arrives, choose an action based on the current battlefield rather than committing the entire party's actions in advance. Balance offense and defense, manage status effects, and make each character's abilities work together.
Actions resolve as each combatant's turn arrives.
Defending protects your character and generates AP.
Use buffs, debuffs, and debilitating conditions tactically.
Combine defensive, offensive, and support roles.
ABILITIES & ACTION POINTS / PLANNED
Every class uses Action Points, a resource generated and spent within each battle. Basic attacks build momentum. Defending generates even more AP while strengthening your defenses. Spend accumulated points on class abilities, healing, support, and powerful attacks.
Costs 0 AP
Costs 0 AP
Learn abilities as your class develops, then equip a selection that suits your strategy. Your class ability and passive ability occupy their own dedicated slots rather than consuming standard equipped ability slots.
EQUIPMENT & PREPARATION / PLANNED
Equip weapons, armor, accessories, and class-appropriate shields or relics to reinforce each character's strengths.
Gather supplies, manage your shared party inventory, and make use of safe locations to rest and prepare before returning to the unknown.
THE JOURNEY AWAITS
An ancient threat has returned. The kingdoms are fighting to survive, and the truth lies deeper than anyone suspects.
Gather your party. Choose your path. Discover what the world has forgotten.
